Ingredients

Tropical Burger Patties
1 1/2 lbs of 93% lean ground beef
1/3 cup Hormel bacon bits
1 egg
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1/4 cup hickory smoked barbecue sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 
Cooking spray
6 slices of low-fat mild cheddar cheese
6 whole wheat hamburger buns
6 leaves of lettuce, washed
6 slices of ripe tomato
Tropical Burger Sauce
2 Ripe Mango's (peeled, pit removed and coarsely chopped)
1 cup pineapple chunks, drained
3/4 cup low fat or fat free Miracle Whip
2 tbsp honey mustard

 

Instructions

Thoroughly mix first nine Tropical Burger Patty ingredients by hand in a large mixing bowl. Form into six patties. Cover and place in refrigerator for one hour to help stiffen the patties Place all above Burger Sauce ingredients into blender and blend on high until sauce is smooth and consistent in color (Note: Small chunks of pineapple and mango is okay). Place in refrigerator until ready to use. Prepare stainless steel gas grill by spraying grates with cooking spray. Light grill and let grill warm up on low heat for approximately 10 minutes. Remove patties from refrigerator and place on grill. Cook patties on low heat for approximately 10 – 12 minutes per side (or until desired doneness) with grill cover down. Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking time. Remove patties from grill. Remove burger sauce from refrigerator and spread approximately 1 tablespoon on each side of hamburger bun. Place cheese covered patty on bottom half of bun. Top with slice of tomato and lettuce. Add more burger sauce if desired. Enjoy your Tropical Hamburger.
