The Wine and Cheese Burger

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

This burger combines the best of all worlds.It uses great beef, great wine, and great cheese, and then we throw on mushrooms and onions! Who wouldn’t love that combo?

Ingredients:

1.5 pounds of ground Angus beef

2 TBSP mesquite seasoning

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp minced garlic

1 red onion sliced into rings

1 small container of cremini mushrooms, sliced

1/3 cup of Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon

6 slices of smoked Gouda cheese

2 TBSP deli style spicy brown mustard

6 leaves of lettuce

6 whole grain rolls

Instructions:

Combine ground beef, mesquite seasoning, pepper and garlic. Mix well. Form into 6 patties. Grill until medium doneness, several minutes on each side. Just before grilling is complete top burgers with Gouda slices to melt. Meanwhile, add onions and mushrooms to a hot skillet. Carefully pour wine over onions and mushrooms. Saute for about 3 minutes or until onions are slightly softened but not soggy. Grill buns on grill until slightly toasted. Add burger patty to bottom bun. Top with some of the onions and mushrooms. Spread mustard on top bun. Add a lettuce leaf and put on bun top. Enjoy!
