Pairs well with:

Cabernet Sauvignon

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

Ingredients

2 lbs. ground chuck
1 large egg
6 T. taco seasoning mix
2 T. chopped onion
¾ cup crushed nacho cheese chips
vegetable oil, for brushing on the grill rack
6 slices medium cheddar cheese
12 slices sun dried tomato bread
6 lettuce leaves
6 tomato slices
sour cream (optional)

Instructions

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill, or preheat a gas grill to medium high. To make the patties, combine the beef, egg, seasoning, onion and chips in large bowl. Mix well. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and form the portions into patties. When the grill is ready, brush the grill rack with vegetable oil. Place the patties on the rack, cover, and cook, turning once, until done to preference, 5 to 7 minutes on each side for medium. During the final minute of grilling, place cheese slices on top of patties. When the patties are cooked, remove from the grill. Place the bread slices on the outer edges of the grill rack to warm. To assemble the burgers, place patty on top of bread slice. On each patty, place a lettuce leaf, tomato slice, and sour cream if desired. Add bread top and serve. Makes 6 burgers.
