stuffed burger

This is a burger with a surprise in every bite.


2 lbs. grass fed lean ground beef
2 tbs. pepper
1 Pkg. of french onion soup mix
1 Tbs. garlic salt
1 tsp sugar
1 bunch of cilantro (leaves only, washed and patted dry)
1 1/2 cups chopped red bell pepper
1 4 oz. can green chiles
8 slices (aprox. 1/8 thick x 3" x 3" sweet vidalia onion
8 slices (aprox. 1/8 thick x 3" x 3") of pepper jack cheese
8 Sesame seed wheat buns
Condiments if desired:


1) Take the ground beef out of package and start to mix it up with your hands. 2) Add pepper, the pkg. of french onion soup mix, garlic salt, sugar, cilantro, red bell pepper and green chilies. 3) Mix all above ingredients thru beef until evenly distributed. 4) Form 8 patties about 4" in diameter and about 3/4" thick. 5)lay one cheese slice and onion slice centered on 4 of the patties. 6) take the remaining 4 beef patties and lay each one on top of one of the four already prepared patties. 7) form each patty by sealing the edges of it by squeezing and molding the edges to seal it completely 8) Cook on heated gas grill at temp. of 320° for 6 minutes on one side, flip and cook 5 minutes on the other side. During the last 3 minutes of grilling, place the buns face down on grill (top and bottom buns) and toast slightly. 9) Remove buns and place one hamburger patty on each bun bottom and place top of bun on top. 10) Add ketsup, mayonaise or mustard as desired and enjoy!
