Root for the USA Hamburger

This is a traditional glazed hamburger that is enjoyed by children and grown ups alike.


2 minced garlic clove
4 tbs. Sutter Home White Zinfadel
2 tbs. ketchup
2 tbs. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. raw sugar
2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp. balsamic vinegar
2 lbs. ground beef
salt and pepper to taste
dash of hot pepper sauce if desired


In a small saucepan combine garlic, wine, ketchup, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, and hot pepper sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer for 5 minutes and then remove from heat; set aside. In a mixing bowl combine ground beef, salt, and pepper; mix well and shape meat mixture 8 patties. Grill over medium heat for 15 to 18 minutes or until no pink remains, turning once and brushing frequently with sauce.


Toast the buns on the grill. Serve hamburgers with cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickle, and if desired pour the rest of the zinfadel into a wine glass and enjoy!
