Reuben Burger


1 can of spray for grilling
10 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. Hot & Spicy Seafood Sauce
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
6 large sliced red onions
1/4 cup olive oil, plus extra for brushing bread
12 Tbsp. of Bavarian Style Sauerkraut
3/4 lbs. uncooked beef bratwurst
2 1/4 lbs. ground chuck
1 Tbsp. minced garlic
1 tsp. Sea salt
12 (1/2 in. thick) slices of seeded rye bread
6 slices Swiss cheese


Prep time: 30 minutes Spray grill and 12 inch piece of heavy duty aluminum foil with Grilling spray. Mix mayonnaise, seafood sauce and lemon juice together in small mixing bowl. Refrigerate until time for use. Peel and cut six 1/4 inch thick slices of red onion, place flat on foli. Drizzle olive oil over each onion slice and top with 2 Tbsp. sauerkraut. Seal foil to make packet. Now remove bratwurst from casing and crumble into large mixing bowl. Add ground chuck, garlic, and salt. Mix by hand until meat is evenly blended. Form into 6 patties (1/2 inch thick on edges) and refrigerate. Cut bread into 12, 1/2 inch thick pieces and brush both sides with olive oil. Preheat grill for 15 minutes until it reaches medium heat (350 degrees). Cooking Instructions: Place onion packet on bottom shelf of medium heated (350 degrees) gas grill cover and cook for 5 minutes, place on top shelf and continue to cook until burgers are done. Place burgers on bottom shelf, cover and grill 5 minutes. Do not touch while grilling. Uncover and flip burgers. Cover and continue to grill for 5 additional minutes. Place 1 slice of cheese on each patty, top with 1 onion/sauerkraut slice. Remove from grill and let rest. Grill bread for 1/2 to 1 minute each side, until lightly charred. Spoon dressing evenly over each bread slice. Place burgers on bread and cover with another slice of bread. Cut in half and serve immediately.
