Pinot Grigio Panini Burger

Italy at it's finest. The blended flavors of meat, spice, wine, cheese,vegtables and good bread. It speaks for itself!


2 lbs.Ground beef (Chuck or Round)
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
2 Tbl. fresh oregano chopped
1 teas.salt
1 teas.pepper
1/4 cup Sutter Home Pinot Grigio
1 cup mayonaise
1 bunch fresh basil leaves
2 Tablespoons dijon mustard
1 loaf ciabbatia bread
3 roasted red peppers
1/3 lb provolone cheese sliced
Extra Virgin Olive Oil


Place ground beef in a bowl. Grate onion and 1 clove garlic into meat mixture. Add oregano, salt, pepper and Sutter Home Pinot Grigio to bowl with meat and mix well and make hamburger patties. Grill. In another small bowl mix mayonaise, the other clove of garlic grated, 2 tablespoons chopped basil, 2 tablespoons dijon mustard. Cut ciabatta bread into rounds to fit burger. Spread mayonaise mixture onto insides of the bread buns. Place a slice of cheese, hamburger, 2 basil leaves, slice of roasted red pepper and cheese inside of the bread. Brush olive oil on both sides of bread and toast in a panini press til golden brown and cheese is melted.


Moisture is the key to a great burger. Mixing in onion, garlic, and the wine keeps this burger moist. Keeping ingrediants simple and fresh adds to the wonderful combinations of flavors in this recipe. Enjoy!
