Monte Cristo Revisited Burger

Pairs well with:

White Merlot

Imagine sipping a lighter Merlot. This fresh, pale-pink wine is a nice change from traditional red or white wines.

Ingredients

Patties:
1/2 pound ground pork
1/2 pound ground ham
1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
3 tablespoons honey
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
Vegetable oil for brushing grill
Toppers:
4- slices honey turkey
4 slices swiss cheese
4 sourdough buns
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup strawberry preserves

 

Instructions

1. Preheat grill to medium-high 2. For Burgers, combine ground pork, ground ham, bread crumbs, honey, egg, and milk in bowl. Using spoon mix until ingredients blended. Do not over mix. 3. Brush Grill with vegetable oil. 4. Place burgers on the grill. Do not place directly over flame due to there high fat content. Grill until bottom lightly brown. Turn and continue grilling until lightly brown on both sides. If using a meat thermometer, the internal temperature of the patty should be 160 degrees. 5. As the patty becomes lightly brown on both sides, place a slice of turkey on each burger. Then place a slice of swiss cheese on top of each piece of turkey. Close grill lid and allow for cheese to melt. Approximately 1-2 minutes. 6. Remove burgers from grill and place on a plate to rest. Brush buns with butter and place each half on the grill to toast. 7. Remove toasted buns. Place a patty on each bottom half of bun. Generously spread the top half of each bun with strawberry preserves and place on top of patty. Serve
