MaMa Mia Burgers

I grew up cooking with my Italian grandmother. Thanks to her, I can cook everything and anything! I love foods of all kinds from every part of the world. My husband, however, is not so adventurous. He does love a good burger, so I came up with the MaMa Mia burger to spice things up a little for him. My whole family loves them!

For the burgers:
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
1/2 pound ground mild Italian sausage
1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
1 egg slightly beaten
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic finely minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil for the grill
For the Topping:
6 slices provolone cheese
6 slices mozzerlla cheese
6 slices tomato
12 large,whole basil leaves
extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar for drizzling
6 ciabatta rolls split

Light charcoal grill to medium high heat. Medium high heat for gas grill if using instead. In large mixing bowl, combine ground chuck, ground sausage, bread crumbs, egg, parmesan cheese, garlic, basil, oregano and salt.Mix until well combined. Shape into 6 patties. When grill is ready, wipe down with vegetable oil. Grill patties on first side 4 minutes. Flip and add to each patty one slice provolone and one slice mozzerella. Grill for another 4 minutes. Place ciabatta rolls face side down on grill and grill for about one minute until lightly toasted. To assemble: Place one patty on each of the rolls. Top each with a tomato slice and two basil leaves. Drizzle each with alittle of the olive oil and balsamic. Enjoy!
