Ingredients:

Burger:
3 lbs. 81% lean ground beef
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. onion powder
2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
1 tbsp. Hawaiian sea salt
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp. fresh thyme

Sauce:
1 tsp. chipotle chili pepper
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp. butterscotch sauce
1 tbsp. honey dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp. sour cream
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 tbsp. prepared horseradish
Pinch of Hawaiian sea salt
Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Caramelized Onions:
2 large Maui onions
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 tsp. Hawaiian sea salt

6 slices cheddar cheese

6 Hawaiian sweet rolls

Instructions:

In a medium saucepan on medium-high heat, add butter and olive oil. Slice onions into 1/4″ half rounds and add to saucepan. Stir until onions are coated with oil and butter, then add salt. Stir to mix in salt and continue stirring occasionally so the onions don’t stick to the pan. Cook onions for about 25 minutes (until caramelized).

For the sauce, add all ingredients together in a small bowl and stir until combined.

For the burgers, add all ingredients to a bowl and mix ingredients with your hands. Divide meat meat up into 6 equal parts, roll into a ball in your hands, then slowly flatten into patties. Be careful not to compress burgers! Lightly salt and pepper each side of each burger.

To grill, place burgers over high heat, close grill top, and let cook for 5 minutes. Flip burgers and cook for another 3 minutes. Also at this time, add Hawaiian sweet rolls to the top rack of the grill and let them toast for about 2 minutes. At this point, add cheddar cheese and let it melt for 1 minute. After the burgers have cooked for 8 minutes and the rolls have toasted for 2, take everything off of the grill.

To assemble the burger, spread one sixth of the sauce onto the bottom part of the bun. Place burger on top of the sauce, then add one sixth of the caramelized onions on top. Place the top on the bun on the burger and press down lightly. Don’t press down too hard or you’ll squeeze all the juices out!

Enjoy 🙂
