Jo Jo's Creation

On family nights, we opt out of ordering pizza, instead I make my signature burgers, which the entire family enjoys. I normally make 8-10 burgers for 4 people and they are all devoured! My family has raved over my burgers for many generations and not a one truly knows the recipe. Truth be told, I never measure my ingredients, I go by memory. Enjoy!

1 lb. of ground chuck
1 med. vidalia onion, finely chopped
1/2 TBsp of worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp minced garlic
1/3 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
fresh bakery whole grain rolls/buns

Take ground chuck and separate with fingers. Add the chopped onion and worcestershire sauce, lightly mixing in with fingers. Add next 6 ingredients, mixing in with fingers. Lastly, add the cheddar cheese, mixing lightly, but thoroughly into the meat mixture. Form mixture into med. patties, approx. 3 inches in diameter. Heat grill or griddle to medium temperature. If using a grill, line with heavy duty foil first and then add the patties, one at a time. Cook approx. 6 mins. on one side and flip over; continue cooking for an additional 5-6 mins. or until desired temperature is achieved.

Caution: With this recipe, as the meat cooks, the cheese melts and coats the pan (grill foil) with a delicious layer of goodness. I serve this melted cheese delight on the side of the burgers and everyone enjoys the preview!!!! Also, I've tried variations of this recipe, using other cheeses, such as monterray jack, but the sharp cheddar adds a unique kick.
