Jersey Girls Turkey Club Burger

Who in New Jersey doesn’t go to a diner.One of our favorite sandwiches to order in a Diner is the Turkey Club. Piles of turkey, bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato sounds so yummy! And who in America doesn’t love turkey. Its only our greatest tradition. So what better way to instill American pride with our local foods. Inspired by my New Jersey roots and a Patriotic pride, I assembled this creation with my favorite flavors of turkey, bacon, tomato and cheese.

Ingredients:

Patties
2 Lb Ground Turkey (dark meat)
1 Small Red Onion minced
3 Oz. Raw Center Cut Bacon minced
2 Oz. Swiss Cheese minced
2 Tbsp Parsley,Basil,Oregano minced
2 Tbsp Sutter Home White Zinfandel
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
2 Tsp Kosher Salt
2 Tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
Spread
1/3 Cup Hellmans Mayonnaise
1/3 Cup Spicy Brown Mustard
Building
6 Each Pre-Cooked Bacon Slices
½ Cup Vegetable Oil for Grill Rubbing
1 Tsp Kosher Salt
1 Tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
6 Each Swiss Cheese Slices
6 Each Potato Rolls Split
6 Each Tomato Slices (1/4 inch thick)
24 Each Arugula Leaves (4 leaves per burger)

Instructions:

Preheat the gas grill to a medium- high heat.
To make the patties: Combine in a large bowl, ground turkey, onions, bacon, cheese, herbs, wine, olive oil, salt and pepper.
Handling as little as possible form 6 patties to fit buns. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to grill.
To make spread: Combine mayonnaise and mustard in small bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
Place the pre-cooked bacon on a piece of foil. Cover completely with the foil or form an envelope around the bacon. Add the bacon on the side of the grill to cook along side the burgers.
To grill the burgers, brush grill with vegetable oil. Salt and pepper each side of the burgers. Place patties down and cover. Cook approximately 5–7 minutes on each side or until done to medium. The last 2 minutes of cooking add a slice of cheese to each burger and cover the grill until melted.
Add the potato rolls to the grill to toast slightly.
To build the burger: On the bottom of the bun, generously spread the mayo/mustard mixture. Add the burger and top the burger with once slice of bacon, one slice of tomato and 4 leaves of arugula. Top with bun and Enjoy!
