1 1/4 lb 80/20 Ground Chuck
1 1/8 cup “Secret Sauce” recipe to follow/remainder used on the grill
6 Kaiser Rolls
1 Stick of room temp Land O Lakes salted butter/for rolls
1/2 red onion finely diced
2 large leaves of Romaine lettuce or 3 to 4 smaller leaves
1 large Roma tomato or 2 small Roma tomatoes
6 slices of Sharp Cheddar Cheese (like Sargento)
6 slices of Maple flavored bacon (like Hormel)
Secret Sauce as follows:
1 15 oz can of Hunts tomato Sauce
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup Karo Dark brown Corn Syrup
1 cup Hellmann’s Mayonnaise
2 tsp Cajun seasoning
1 1/2 tsp Oregano leaves
2 tsp Parsley flakes
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp La Choy Soy sauce
2 tbsp Gulden’s spicy brown mustard
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
1/8 tsp chili powder
1/8 tsp course ground black pepper

Instructions:

In a large bowl combine ground sirloin and ground chuck. Set aside. In another bowl combine all ingredients for the “secret sauce” and wisk until thoroughly mixed.
Add 1 1/8 cup to meat mixture combine thoroughly. Prepare 6 even patties for the grill.

Heat grill to 325 degrees.

Place burgers on grill and top with sauce. Don’t be stingy. Remember it’s in the sauce! Close grill.

Meanwhile cook bacon in small pan. Set aside.

Return to grill and turn burgers only once. Add more sauce.

Prepare Kaiser rolls by splitting and buttering both sides.
Add to grill 5 minutes prior to plating. Make sure rolls turn slightly brown. You can always keep warm by putting on top rack of grill.

Add sauce one more time. You may need to turn the grill down. We don’t want to overcook the burgers.

Prepare red onion by diced in fine dices.
Prepare tomato by washing and taking out seeds and making small dices.
Prepare lettuce by washing and making strips.

Once the sauce carmelizes add the cheese and top with a slice of bacon that has been cut in two and placed criss cross on top.

For plating:

Place Kaiser roll open faced. Place burger on bottom half. On top half place strip of lettuce, a sprinkle of tomato and a sprinkle of onion.

Take a huge bite and enjoy one of the best burgers in the world!
