Great American Beef Burger

This is a slight variation on an all-american cheeseburger. When your burger is done you put one of those little american flags on a toothpick in the top of the bun. This is the tradition at our house. My six year old son helped develop the receipe and is very excited about the contest. You mix all ingredients together except the american cheese and bacon thse are to be melted and served on top after grilling. After mixing ingredients you form four patties and grill to taste, they are best medium rare. Lettuce tomato and an onion slice as well as condiments are optioal to taste.

1lb Lean ground beef
3/4 cup asparagus tips
1/4 cupfinely chopped red onion
1/4 cup sutter home cabernet sauvignon
1 small jualapeno pepper-chopped very fine
1/2 cup seasoned croutons crushed
3/4 cup monterey jack cheese cut in small chunks
2 Teaspoons worcestershire sauce
3 Teaspoons Canadian steak seasoning
4 slices American Cheese-
1 slice melted on top each burger
4 slices swiss cheese-1 slice melted on each burger
8 slices crisp pepper bacon-2 for each burger
Lettuce and tomato and onion slice(optional)
condiments to taste
4 soft Kaiser rolls-slightly warmed

Mix all ingredients in large bowl up to the american cheese, these slices and all other ingredients listed go on after grilling. Mix ingredients well with hands and form into four burger patties. Grill to taste, but they are best medium rare. Melt one american and one slice swiss after grilling and then add 2 slices of crisp pepper bacon. The lettuce toato and onion slice are what we like but are optional as are the condiments like mustard, mayo and katchup. Place on warm kaiser roll and add american flag(mandatory at our house). Enjoy!

Tastes best with a side of seasoned fries with lots of ketchup. I hope you will consider our simple mid-western receipe. My son and I will be waiting to hear from you. Sincerely, Trish and Bobby - her assistant and chief taste tester.
