Gourmet Burger

Hello: I have acquired the ability of an artist in two areas of my life. One, being cooking for nearly 50 years starting at the age of nine. Secondly, licensed as a nail technician for 20+ years and proprietor of a nail salon. Cooking has been a self-interest and quality feature not only for pleasure and therapy, but also, the experience of achieving favorable and unfavorable results. The "Gourmet Burger" created was one of favorable taste for my husband and me. Rita

6 slices bacon
2 1/2 pounds lean hamburger
3 teaspoons Steak seasoning
3 teaspoons garlic powder
3 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon Kosher salt
10 grinds of freshly ground black pepper
1 onion, sliced into 6 slices
1 tomato, sliced into 6 slices
6 mozzarella,(water packed) slices
12 fresh basil leaves
3 tablespoon, Sweet Cream --salted butter, at room temperature
1 cup Sutter Home, Cabernet Sauvignon
2 cloves of garlic
6 hamburger buns
1/8 cup flour- All Purpose

Heat a skillet to medium heat, when skillet is hot add bacon and cook until crispy. Let bacon drain on paper towel and cool. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place hamburger in a large bowl and add the next 5 ingredients. Make 6 patties, then cut in half and place a mozzarella slice, tomato slice, onion slice, and 2 basil leaves on the bottom half. Put the top back on and reshape the burger. Reheat bacon skillet then add burgers to brown both sides. Remove browned burgers to another skillet (safe for ovens) and place in preheated oven. Bake 20 minutes. Remove and let set. Reheat skillet with bacon and hamburger bits at medium high. Allow the heat to get hot then add 1 cup Sutter Home wine and whisk to pick up the bits then let the mixture reduce to 1/2. Roll the butter in flour coating heavily, then add to hot reduced wine and whisk till thick. Pour sauce over burgers let set. Take one slice of bacon and break it into 2 pieces then top the burger. Take one clove of garlic and smash it, then rub the juice of the garlic on the top and bottom of three buns then repeat this with the other clove of garlic for the other 3 buns. Place hamburgers on the buns and serve. Enjoy!

I have entered this contest with most likely the same feelings as everyone else. To challenge and win. Rita
