Gewurztraminer Burgers

Hard to pronounce yet easy to drink, this wine combines lychee fruit and white peach flavors with a hint of spice.

Ingredients

1 pound ground pork
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
2 teaspoons Sutter Home Gewurztraminer wine
1 teaspoon garlic flavored chili paste
1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
1 egg
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon shallots, minced
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
8 medium button mushrooms, sliced salt and freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup Sutter Home Gewurztraminer wine
hearty Kaiser rolls
baby spinach leaves
mayonnaise

 

Instructions

Thoroughly combine the first 7 ingredients and form into four uniform patties. Grill until done to at least 150 degrees internal temperature. Saute the shallots, garlic and mushrooms in the butter until they start to caramelize. Season with salt and pepper if you wish. Add the Gewurztraminer carefully as it will ignite. Reduce to almost no liquid and keep warm when burgers are done place them on top of the bottom Kaiser roll which has been spread with mayonnaise and topped with spinach leaves. Top with mushrooms and cover with top bun.
