Everything Grilled BBQ Burger

Bright and full-bodied, this Zinfandel wine is a curious contradiction in tastes.

The foundation of this easy to prepare burger is based on everything grilled including the buns, tomatoes, onions and pickles and the basting of the burger with the BBQ sauce brings the burger together with intense flavor.

Ingredients:

Burger:
3 rolls Pillsbury Country Italian Bread (1 ea 10 inch loaf)
Ground Chuck 24 oz
Ground Sirloin 12 oz
12 Slices Thick Sliced Bacon
16 Oz Memphis Style BBQ Sauce
1 Cup extra Virgin Olive Oil
6 Red Onion Slices 1/3″ Thick
6 Tomato Slices 1/3″ Thick
12 Claussen Burger Slice Pickles
6 Slices Sharp White Cheddar Cheese
1 Head Iceburg Lettuce
1 Cup Hellmanns Olive Oil Mayonnaise
1 Cup Dijon Style Mustard
1/4 Cup Kosher Salt
1/4 Cup Ground Pepper

BBQ Sauce:
1 Cup Heinz Ketchup
3/4 Cup Sutter Home Zinfandel
1/4 Cup Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 Cup A-1 Steak Sauce
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
1/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar
1/3 Cup Onion Puree
1/4 Cup Yellow Mustard
1/2 teaspoon celery powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions:

Buns:
Prepare the lighting one side of the grill Pre-heat to 325 degrees

Cut the bread dough in half, flatten by hand to a diameter of 6″ brush with olive oil top and bottom, place on a baking sheet, grill for 25-30 min or until the tops are golden brown, wrap the buns and keep covered.

Bacon:

Use cast iron pan with wire rack, bake bacon for 18 min. or until crispy, drain on paper towels, wrap in foil set aside.

BBQ Sauce:

In a heavy sauce pan, combine all the ingredients, bring to simmer over medium heat, cook 5-8 min. stir constantly.
set aside.

Start second half of the grill. (high heat)

Condiments:

Brush Onions, Tomatoes and pickles with olive oil.
Grill in order:

Onions 5 min. turn once.
Tomatoes 3 min. turn once
Pickles 2 min. turn once.
Remove and cover.

Meat:
Mix ground meat together season with salt pepper divide into 6 equal portions, flatten to a thickness of 3/4″ and dimple the center of the top portion of the burger.

Place on grill, brush top with BBQ sauce, turn after 2 min. brush top with BBQ Sauce, cook 2 min. turn brush again cook 2 min. brush again turn cook 30 seconds, place cheese on burger, close cover for 1 min.

Remove and rest while grilling buns.

Grilling Buns:

Cut Buns in half, brush with olive oil, grill for 1-2 min or until buns are browned and have grill marks.

Assembly:

Place 1 teaspoon of Mayo, Ketchup and mustard on bottom bun, then 2 pickles, place burger, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bacon then top with lettuce.

Secure with long tooth pick

Serve.
