crunchy country fried burger

You won’t need a bouquet of flowers when you share our Pinot Grigio. This crisp wine with floral aromas is a wonderful way to make an entrance.

Ingredients

for burgers – 1 lb good quality ground sirloin
1 large egg
1 tablespoon onion salt
for batter –
2 cups all purpose flour
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 cup oil for frying
4 hamburger buns
garnish – lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup, country gravy, sliced red onion

 

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, mix batter ingredients – flour, eggs, sugar and milk and let stand about 5 minutes to blend. meanwhile, in large bowl mix ground sirloin with egg and onion salt and form into 4 patties, fairly flat and round in shape. Place on flat surface and allow to stay cool, in refrigerator. Heat standard grill, gas or charcoal, to medium heat. Grease grill and cook hambuger patties until about rare. About 3 minutes per side. Remove from grill and place to the side. Let cool. In large frying pan on grill, heat frying oil until slightly smoking. Dip each hamburger patty in batter mix and place in smoking oil. Cook until medium golden brown (medium done meat) then remove. Serve while hot on buns with desired garnish.
