Caribean Frita Burger

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef chuck
4 tablespoon Sofrito
* recipe below
3 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons plain bread crumbs
8 Hamburger buns
1 cup mayo-Ketchup
* recipe below
8 Lettuce leaves
8 tomatoes slices
1 small can on store bought shoestring potatoes
1 cup of oil for the grill
Sofrito;
½ onion
½ bell pepper
½ cup of cilantro
4 cloves of garlic
¼ cup of canola oil
Mayo-ketchup sauce:
½ cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons catchup
1 garlic clove

 

Instructions

Instructions; 1. To make the sofrito place all of the ingredient listed in a blender and puree. Set aside. 2. Make the Mayo-ketchup, using a mortar triturate the garlic clove,mix with the first two ingredients and set aside in the refrigerator. 3. To make the burgers, mix together the first 5 ingredients (the meat, sofrito, salt, pepper , garlic powder) 4. Add the egg 5. Add bread crumbs to form a large meat ball 6. Divide the meat mixture in 8 equal parts, form you burger patties. 7. Rub oil on the grill, heat the grill on medium heat and when ready place the burgers in the grill. Turn after 10 minutes and cook until internal temperature is 160 degrees. 8. Toast bread slighty on the grill. 8. To build your burger spread bread with mayo-ketchup, in layers place lettuce, tomato, burger, shoeatring potatoes and cover with the bread. Enjoy!
