Bruschetta Burger

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

My family loves my italian meatball recipe.I decided to modify the recipe to make into a burger.

Ingredients:

1.5 lb ground chuck
1 t. salt
1 t. ground pepper
2 large eggs
2 T. milk
¼ c. of Italian bread crumbs
1/8 c. of flat leaf parsley- chopped
2 basil leaves- chopped
¾ c. of grated parmesan cheese
1t. salt
1t. ground pepper

1 8 oz. package of sliced mushrooms
1T. olive oil
1 T. butter- salted

6 slices of provolone
6 Crusty Italian Rolls
2 T. olive oil
1 clove of garlic- cut in half

1 T. olive oil
1 clove of garlic- minced
1 can of tomato sauce
1 12 oz can of tomato paste
1 T. brown sugar
1/2 t. dried Italian seasoning
¼ c. of water

½ c. mayo
1 T. prepared pesto

Instructions:

To make pesto mayo:
Combine ½ c. mayo
1 T. prepared pesto

Begin by making the marinara sauce (jarred is fine):

Heat 1 T. olive oil sauté 1 clove of garlic- minced for 1 minute over medium heat
Add the following:
1 can of tomato sauce
1 12 oz can of tomato paste
1 T. brown sugar
1/2 t. dried Italian seasoning
¼ c. of water
Stir and Cover, lower heat- 20 -25 minutes

To make burgers:
Combine 1.5 lb ground chuck
2 large eggs
2 T. milk
¼ c. of Italian bread crumbs
1/8 c. of flat leaf parsley- chopped
2 basil leaves- chopped
¾ c. of grated parmesan cheese
1t. salt
1t. ground pepper

Divide the meat into 6 equal portions and form into patties- divide salt and pepper equally by sprinkling on burgers

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill with a cover, or preheat a gas grill to medium-high.

When the grill is ready, brush the grill with vegetable oil. Place the patties on the grill, cover, and cook, turning once until done to preference, 4 to 5 minutes on each side. When you first put on the burgers, begin sautéing the mushrooms in 1 T. butter and 1T. of olive oil this will take about 5 minutes over medium high heat. During the last few minutes of cooking the burgers, dip the burgers in marinara sauce or spread on both sides and place 1 slice of Provolone on top. At this point you can prepare the bruschetta buns by rubbing each side of the bun with the sliced garlic clove and drizzling a small amount of olive oil on the inside of the buns. Place face down on grill grates for 1 minute.
To assemble the burgers, on each roll bottom spread 1 T. of pesto mayo. Place burger on bottom of bun, followed by 1/6 of the sautéed mushrooms and topped with top bun.
