Better Bagel Burger

This recipe combines my favorite Sunday morning breakfast treat with a juicy burger.


2 lbs Ground Chuck
6 Tbsp Dried Chopped Onion
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
4 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/3 cup Sutter Home Merlot
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
6 Large Bagels - sliced in half (horizontally)
8 oz Smoked Nova Salmon - Sliced
1 Tomato - Sliced
1 Red Onion - Sliced
6 oz Cream Cheese
6 Tbsp Capers
Juice of 1 lemon


Preheat gas grill on high for 5 minutes. Combine top six ingredients and mix thoroughly by hand. Divide into six equal portions and make into fat patties. Put patties on grill and reduce heat to medium. Cook for 8-14 minutes flipping once, or until medium well.

Toast bagels and smear top and bottom halves with 1 oz cream cheese. On bottom halves, add capers, red onion and tomato slices. Add burger, drape with 1-2 slices Smoked Nova salmon. Splash with lemon juice, top with upper bagel half. Serve.


Serve with a kosher pickle slice and Cream Soda.
