We call these funeral burgers but I decided to spare you that name. They were named that because they are so easy to make my mother always made them to send to the family of someone that has died, hence the name Funeral Burgers.
2 lb hamburger
2 med onions (one minced and one cut in long strips.
1/2 cup bread crumbs or cubed bread
1 green oinion sliced in strips
1 can tomato soup
1 jar chili sauce olive oil
Combine hamburger,minced oinion, bread crumbs, garlic powder and eggs in med bowl. (or whatever size bowl you can fit it in, who am I to tell you what bowl to use? I'm just here to build a better burger) Mix well and form into hamburger patties. Fry patties in frying pan till the outside is cooked, not completely just browned. Fry remaining onion and green pepper in a little olive oil until slightly limp. You can also fry them in the hamburger pan for added flavor but it maybe a little less healthy. Not that it matters at this piont, this isn't a build a healthy burger recipe. Alternate patties and pepper/onion combo in roasting pan til gone. In another bowl, combine tomato soup and 3/4 jars of chili sauce and mix well. Pour the whole mixture on top of hamburgers. Cover and cook at 350 for 45 minutes. Serve on rolls.
I am not a hamburger fan but these I'll eat.
