Bacon Embraced Cheeseburgers

Is there anything more mouth-watering then the American standard of bacon and beef?


3 lbs of ground beef
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 organic eggs
2 tbs. Sutter Home Merlot
2 tbs. ketchup
2 tbs grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
8 slices American cheese
8 slices blanched center cut bacon (blanched)


I like to lightly oil my grate but you could put non stick cooking spray on it before firing it up. In a large bowl, combine first 9 ingredients and mix thoroughly. Shape into 8 patties. Wrap bacon around each patty and secure with a toothpick. Cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side or until the desired doneness. On the last flip add cheese slices and cook for a few secconds more - just until the cheese starts to melt.


This is fantastic with a grilled or toasted whole wheat bun with all the traditional condiments of ketchup, mustard, pickles, leafy lettuce, tomato slices and sweet onion slices. It is a duty of the cook to keep sipping the rest of the wine during and after preparation!
