Apple Walnut Beef Burger

I have always enjoyed creating different dishes. On Independence Day of this year I created the Apple Walnut Burger it was a big hit at our party. My wife saw the ad in southern living and encouraged me to enter.


1 1/2 lbs ground chuck
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped green onions
1 cup diced Red Delicious apples (peeled and cored)
2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
*2 washington red apples cored,and peeled
*6 jumbo hamburger buns
*6 slices sharp cheddar cheese.


Preheat your grill 350-400 degrees.
clean your grill with a wire brush and then spray with a cooking spray. This will prevent your food from sticking.

Mix first 8 ingredients well, make up into 6 1/4lb patties.chill for 30 minutes.
Toppings* slice the two apples into 1/2 inch rings.
spray each hamburger bun with margarine spray,this will help them brown on the grill.

Brown your hamburger buns on the preheated grill for about one minute or until golden grill marks appear.
Put apple rings on grill cook for about 7 minutes on each side, remove from heat.
put hamburger patties on grill cook for 7-10 minutes on each side. When done palce apple rings ontop of patties and top with cheese turn off grill let chees melt. mayonnaise buns.Place patties on bun and eat.
