Anytime Burger

This rich red easily complements your homemade chicken dishes, red meats, game, and mildly seasoned pastas.

Ingredients

1 cup raspberry preserves
1/2 cup toasted coarsely chopped almonds
1 lb. ground chuck
1/4 lb. mild sweet Italian sausage (casing removed)
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1 tsp. coarse black pepper
1 Tbs. butter
1 loaf presliced orange cranberry bread (thick sliced)
3 cups of shredded gruyer cheese

 

Instructions

Preheat grill to medium/ hot.In small bowl combine preserves and almonds, set aside.
In large bowl combine chuck, sausage, garlic powder, seasoned salt, and coarse black pepper. Separate into six equal parts. Shape into 1/2 inch thick square patties.
Place patties on heated grill. Grill 5-7 minutes on each side, turning 3-4 times. Remove patties from grill. Wrap in foil to keep warm. Assemble burgers by topping 1 slice of bread with 1/4 cup cheese. Place patty atop cheese. Spread 2tsp. of preserve mixture on patty. Top mixture with 1/4 cup cheese. Top off with 1 slice of bread. Repeat steps to assemble other burgers.
Heat electric griddle to 300 degrees. Melt butter on griddle. Place assembled burgers on griddle. Toast 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese melted. Serve hot. Reserve leftover preserve mixture for dipping.
