Aloha Burgers with Hoisin Hawaiian BarBQue Sauce

You won’t need a bouquet of flowers when you share our Pinot Grigio. This crisp wine with floral aromas is a wonderful way to make an entrance.

We love fresh tropical flavors and fresh pineapple. grilling pineapple brings out the sweetness, and is surprisingly good with burgers too.

Ingredients:

1 fresh whole pineapple

Burger part:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef 80/20

1/4 cup scallions

1 clove garlic, minced fine

1/4 cup teriyacki sauce, we like the Paradise Pineapple teriyaki, but plain is ok

1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper

1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger

Rolls;

6 kaiser rolls

Hoisin Hawaiian BarBQue Sauce:

2 teaspoons olive oil

1/4 cup onion, chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 cup hoisin sauce

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1/4 cup marmalade

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon hot sauce

1/4 cup scallions

1 tablespoons sesame oil

Cheese:

6 slices American cheese

toppings:

6 slices raw onion

6 crispy lettuce leaves

Instructions:

Cut the top off the pineapple, then peel, cut in half and core. Cut the pineapple into as many big slices as you can, making sure that you have 6 slices to fit your burgers.

In a large bowl combine the ground beef, scallions, garlic, teriyacki, and seasonings.

Mix with a spoon being careful not to over mix or compact the burgers.

form burgers into 6 patties.

Split rolls in half lengthwise.

Make the barbque sauce by heating the olive oil in a flame prood skillet.saute the onion until translucent, add the garlic, and cook a minute more.

Stir in the hoisin sauce, ketchup, vinegar, marmalade,Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce.

Bring to a simmer and cook til thickened, remove from heat and stir in scallions and sesame oil.

Set aside.

Pre heat grill to med high.

Grill the burgers to desired doness, and grill the pineapple slices as well.

The last 5 minutes of cooking, toast the cut side of the rolls and place a slice of cheese on each burger to melt.

Put a burger on the toasted bun, drizzle some barbue sauce over, add a grilled slice of pineapple,slice of onion and a lettuce leaf.
